Tips for driving safely in Thailand. I cover driving a motorbike, cars, in buses, and vans. Thailand drivers are, in my eyes, inconsiderate, indecisive, incompetent, and there are many imbeciles, plain and simple. If you are coming to Thailand and plan on renting a motorbike to drive (scooter), please don't unless you have years of riding one in your home country first. They are very dangerous, and that coupled with Thai driving style can equal a tragic accident.

My favorite sculpture in this Thai Buddhist art exhibit at a Buddhist temple in northeastern Thailand. Something you wouldn't really expect to see at a Buddhist temple. You'd NOT see something like this at a church in your country - would ya?

These are common in Thailand, and they get to about 6 inches in span at the biggest. This one is about 5 inches. They are big enough to eat birds - and do when they catch one in their VERY strong web. I think their web has the distinction of being the strongest of any spider. I heard that a couple places anyway - is it true? Anyone?

Crystal Pool is also known as "Crystal Pond" and "Sra Morakot". It is located in the Klong Thom district of Krabi, from Krabi town come out past the airport about 30km, make a left at the light in Klong Thom, an immediate right. Go 13 km make a right at the sign and go another 7km.

Shot with Nikon AW100, Daylight setting for white balance, 720p. This waterproof Nikon is really a fun camera. I'll maybe get some shots up here of a waterfall and a freshwater spring where I get underwater a bit.

Magic Beach, originally I called it Hidden Beach because it was listed as that on a map. Most maps didn't have it listed at all. Currently there is a thriving business here - and dozens of visitors each day. Maybe it will never look like this again - nobody there but us!

This snake was found about 20 feet up a tree as we were looking for a small monitor that ran up it seconds before. The red was so brilliant on the head that we were able to distinguish it was paradisi and not C. ornata. We used a bamboo pole and noose to grab him and put him on the ground quick.

Chrysopelea paradisi. AKA the Flying Snake.

This is a large monitor lizard, large as in 20-24 inches long. It was just walking along the path as my daughter and I were walking to Crystal Pool (Sra Morakot) in Krabi province, in Thailand.

Monitors are very common, and some are OK with people being very close. I was within 2 feet of this one to take some photos, and it wasn't afraid. Others in the rainforest will sprint away from me if I'm even within 40 meters of them.
