Red tailed racer caught on my way to one of my favorite herping spots in southern Thailand. Great snakes, not usually biters, but they do let the occasional bite fly. We're letting this one go at night on a small bush so we can get some photos and videos.

12:39 am, we'd been looking for snakes about 4 hours that night and already found 3. About 2 hours before this, we found a big 4 meter python in a tree that was 1 meter from Rupert's face. That one disappeared down a hole. See the video - .

Rupert wanted to see the big water reservoir. I said, ahhh, there's never anything up there. He said something I couldn't hear. I thought he wanted to go, but we had just talked about Malayan Sun Bears and Asiatic Brown Bears and I wasn't too keen on meeting one of those. A biologist I'd herped with previously said she found bear scat up the path we were walking on. Bears terrify me, despite my Bear Grylls knife with 4.5 inch blade.

We crossed the stream and headed up to the reservoir. He walked ahead, intent on seeing the other side of it... I looked down, knowing the place... and BAM a 5 meter python cruising the water, looking for frogs and fish I guess. This snake was gigantic - a real dinosaur.

I got some video with the 35mm lens then switched to the 85mm 1.8f but the snake was already getting lost in the water foliage.

Two BIG PYTHONS in one night... I've not done that before. A great night.

Taken 4/9/2015 one month after copulation. This is a very gravid ghost female corn snake named Casper. She laid 11 eggs in total.

Butter X Abbott's okeetee 3/2/2015 #2

Butter het for stripe male crossed with an abbott's okeetee 50% possible het for amelanistic. Unfortunately this pairing only yielded a clutch of slugs.
