John Cena update on WWE Royal Rumble 2019 after ankle injury. John Cena is not expected to feature at this weekend's Royal Rumble.
The 16-time world champion's involvement in Sunday's 30-man over-the-top-rope contest was plunged into doubt this week.
Cena had been due to take part to earn a world title shot at WrestleMania but was reported to have injured his ankle.
Cena continues to be used on promo material across Phoenix leading to suggestions he will be involved in some capacity.
But it appears he will not be in attendance at the event this weekend, much to the disappointment of the wrestling fanbase.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio , WWE journalist Dave Meltzer opened up on whether Cena would feature.
“Let’s put it this way from what I’m told the people who work in the company, the people who work in creative were always under the impression that Cena is not working the Rumble.
"They would be very surprised if he is because there is no reason to lie about that one.”
Cena had been among the favourites to win the Royal Rumble this weekend.
His odds have lengthened though with Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman now leading the way.
