The Netherlands defender joined from Ajax last year for just £90,000 and has ascended through nearly every rank from U18s to the first team.
At the age of 16, Hoever made his senior debut against Wolves in the FA Cup last week, coming on for the injured Dejan Lovren.
The defender put in a reasonable shift, at one point showing what he's capable of with a slaloming run in the second half.
And if that gave Liverpool fans encouragement, then they will love the story of what happened in his first training session with the senior team.
According to the Liverpool Echo , Hoever was thrown in at the deep end.
The teenager found himself marking none other than Mohamed Salah - the forward who scored 44 goals in 52 appearances last season.
However, Hoever took his chance and blew away his senior team-mates with how well he handled the Egytpian. He's been training with the first team ever since.
Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on the defender prior to his debut, and said: "It is just a joy to watch him. He is an incredible, confident young fella and is really a good player on top of that."
He added: "If Joel and Joe would have been fit all of the time, then probably Ki-Jana wouldn’t have been in training with the first team.
"But he was in and he is still in. He is for sure for the future of the club, but when the future starts I do not know.
"He is in, though, and he learns a lot and improves a lot – it will happen automatically."
